The Better Business Bureau and the Abilene Police Department is issuing a warning to area businesses about counterfeit American Express Travelers checks circulating in the area.
Police report recent activity at the Mall of Abilene. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male; short around 5’06” weighing 190 lbs., with a feminine voice. The suspect was well dressed and had acne scarring on his face. He is possibly from the local area and will attempt to pass more of the items during the Christmas shopping season.
The Bureau suggests caution in accepting these checks and should consider the situation like a forgery in progress. Anyone with information regarding the suspect passing these counterfeit travelers checks should contact the Abilene Police Department at 673-8331.
