The Abilene BBB is alerting unsuspecting folks in the Abilene area to be on the look out for a couple of men offering a “one time good deal” on a pair of stereo speakers.
One Abilene man reported to the BBB that he was approached in the parking lot of a business by two men in their early 20’s driving a silver, or grey SUV. They had a story about being in town installing a home theater system and once the job was finished had speakers “left over” & the boss wanted them to sell the speakers before they returned to the Metro-plex.
The speakers were represented as high quality-top-of-the-line Olin Ross speakers. The box was printed with manufactures suggested retail price (MSRP) of $3,100, but the over loaded installation crew was willing to part with the speakers for $300.
An internet search on Olin Ross reveals multiple recent blog postings of similar stories and angry folks around the country with a pair of poor quality $300 speakers.
The BBB suggest caution if you are approached by itinerant salespeople on the street.
